Reasonable Suspicion Training

Did you know that substance abusers costs employers approximately $10 000/year due to absenteeism, low productivity, lost time accidents and increased health and WCB costs?

Supervisors work closely with their employees and are often the first to notice significant changes in an employee's behavior due to a substance abuse problem.  Reasonable suspicion training for supervisors is a web-based course developed by SureHire to educate supervisors to recognize employee workplace drug and/or alchol use.  With access to the internet, supervisors can complete this four hour course anytime!

At the conclusion of the course, supervisors will know more information about:

  • The prevalence and cost of drug and/or alcohol use to Canadian employers
  • The signs and symptoms of occupational drug and/or alcohol use
  • How to appropriately approach suspected employees about a reasonable suspicion drug and/or alchol test
  • Avoiding supervisor traps and pitfalls
  • How to carefully document a reasonable suspicion incident

As part of the course package, supervisors receive a reference training manual that includes:

  • Information about different types of drug classes including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, prescription medications and more
  • Reasonable suspicion checklist and documentation forms
  • A practice case study

Successful applicants must score 80% on the exam following the course in order to receive certification.  For more information about this service, please contact SureHire at 1-866-944-4473
