History of SureHire Occupational Testing

SureHire got its start in early 2004 working out of a local physiotherapy clinic in Leduc, Alberta. After two years of treating injured WCB workers who were hired with significant pre-existing injuries, physiotherapists John Hawes and Kyle Powell believed the industry standard pre-hire/employment screening process for job candidates was flawed and inadequate. Instead of a one test fits all self reporting health assessment, SureHire felt pre-hire testing should be based on the bona fide job requirements and the physical demands of the actual job position being applied for.

Following extensive medical research and planning, SureHire began offering physiotherapist pre-employment fit for work medicals and critical strength & mobility physicals to ensure that potential job candidates were musculoskeletally stable and possessed the necessary strength and mobility to safely excel in the work positions being applied for.

What began as pre-employment fit for work medical and physical testing quickly grew to include a suite of occupational tests based of the demand from companies requiring a single stop solution for all of their occupational testing needs. These tests include drug (urine, oral fluid, hair), alcohol, audiometry, spirometry, mask fitting, chest x-rays and wellness.

As news spread of SureHire’s revolutionary approach to testing in addition to their industry leading online technologies which allowed companies to receive results within one hour of test being completed, SureHire’s services were soon requested across the country. To ensure full standardization of testing SureHire created private testing facilities spanning from Nanaimo British Columbia to St. John’s Newfoundland. These sites are exclusive to SureHire clients and guarantee appointment times, results processing, standardized testing, training and quality control. SureHire has also partnered with independent collection facilities to provision testing across North America.
