SureHire Press Release
SureHire Introduces: Finger Prick Wellness Testing
June 27, 2011
At SureHire, we know that being aware of one’s health status and risk factors can encourage individuals to practice healthy habits that are necessary to live and maintain a healthy life. Our goal is to provide you and your employees with the right information and resources at the right time.

A study conducted by the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) clearly showed that high risk employees result in higher employee health costs.  Even more importantly, it showed that by keeping employees healthy, and by reducing the risk factors affecting high risk employees, employers can save significantly on their health care costs.  To top that, 60% of employees think that their employer has some responsibility when it comes to their health (Canadian Health Index).

SureHire supports occupational wellness goals by providing simple, rapid on-site testing, with minimal interruption in work time, and cost savings.  Immediate results allow health professionals to provide counseling that can lead to behavior changes and healthier lifestyles.

The SureHire Wellness Program includes:

A Health Risk Assessment
  • Blood Pressure
  • Comprehensive body composition
    • Height, weight, BMI and waist circumference
  • Complete Lipid Profile
    • Total cholesterol, high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL), total cholesterol : HDL ration, and triglycerides
  • Blood Glucose Testing
  • Patient result form and an easy to understand interpretations manual which explains their scores as well as providing education for each test
  • Identification of the risk factors most affecting your organization
This will help to give the patient an idea of their overall health, as well as identify any risk factors that might lead to cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

Depending on your needs, we can also test for:
  • Liver Function
    • By identifying increased amounts of ALT and AST in the blood, we can detect liver damage due to cardiovascular disease, diabetes or drug/alcohol abuse.
  • Prostate Function
    • Detecting increased levels of PSA in the blood of male patients may be indicative of a problem with the prostate, and the patient would be referred to a physician.
  • Thyroid Function
    • Detecting abnormal levels of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in the blood indicates that there may be an abnormality with the thyroid gland.  The patient would be referred to a physician.
Our Custom Wellness Program also offers:
  • Educational tools to encourage healthy living all the time, not just for specific events.  This includes: monthly educational newsletters, lunch and learns, and Twitter and Facebook updates based on the risk factors of most concern to your employees.
Organizations can use these results for yearly wellness program implementation.  These programs are designed for use with permanent employees, as well as long term construction contractors.

The information collected through testing is confidential, and therefore will be distributed as follows:

To the Employee
  • Health Screening Result Form.
  • Interpretations Manual explaining the tests and results.
  • If values are abnormal, a physician’s referral will be provided.
To the Employer
  • A summary outlining the health profile of your employees (which will act as a benchmark for yearly testing).
  • Statistics showing health issues that need to be addressed by your organization, and recommendations for action to reduce health risk factors and improve the health and productivity of your employees.
  • No actual medical information will be shown to the company, but a statistical report presenting trends within the company.
Through monthly educational newsletters, lunch and learns, and Twitter and Facebook updates, and follow-up questionnaires we will keep your employees involved in their wellness, and educated on the health risks that are affecting them, and ultimately your organization.

We will also generate quarterly reports based on newsletter, Twitter, Facebook and questionnaire participation to help the company encourage their employees to become involved in the wellness program.  We can also set up company sponsored draws to promote program involvement.
