SureHire Medical Testing: What to Expect

SureHire Logo Man
Upon successful completion of your drug and/or alcohol test (if applicable) you will proceed to the medical test

SureHire Logo Man After changing into your shorts, t-shirt & athletic footwear, an occupational health technician will record your height, weight, blood pressure & grip strength

SureHire Logo Man You will then undergo a full body musculoskeletal examination by a licensed physiotherapist who will assess the stability, strength, range of motion and integrity of your muscles, joints, ligaments and bones

SureHire Logo Man If the physiotherapist identifies any medical reason(s) that will prevent you from safely completing the physical job demands of the position that you are applying for, they will request that you undergo or provide copies of further testing (X-Ray, MRI, Arthrogram, etc.) and/or rehab treatment.  You will not be able to continue with the physical testing at this time

SureHire Logo Man A blood pressure reading greater than or equal to 160/100 will require a physician's written clearance letter prior to re-testing

Critical Strength & Mobility Testing: What to Expect

SureHire Logo Man
The physical component is completed to ensure at the time of testing, you have the necessary critical strength, conditioning and mobility to safely work at the job you are applying for

SureHire Logo Man The duration of the physical is approximately 30 minutes.  During that time you will be required to:
  • Complete a standardized stepping test (based on age & gender)
  • Demonstrate proper lifting technique
  • Carry weights ranging from 15-100lbs (depending upon job position) in a variety of different ways (single hand carry, overhead lift, front carry . . .) over different distances and with various sets/reps

  • Perform a sustained trunk flexion test
SureHire Logo Man You will not be required to perform sit-up and push-up tests.  Testing is based on the lifts and carries found on the job site with the actual weights used at a specific job position

SureHire Logo Man Individuals being tested will be required to wear a heart rate monitor, complete stations within a specific time limit and will be provided with water & towels

SureHire Logo Man Individuals who do not successfully complete the physical lifting component will receive an explanation as to why they were not successful during this attempt and ways to improve their strength, conditioning, lifting techniques and coordination
